My dad was able to get me an internship at a company and I like working there but I want to become a surgeon but I have to wait 2 years to get a volunteer job at the hospital I want.
Will interning at the business company hurt my chances of getting into the college I want?

Hunh? Unless the company is “Girls Gone Wild”, how could the internship look bad?

If you’re not doing porn or mafia I don’t see how it would hurt kiddo.

Yeah I am wondering why you would think it would be bad…

I’m sure it will be absolutely devastating.

No. They aren’t going to reject you because you have varied interests. Colleges fully understand that most people don’t yet know what they want to do even once they’re already in college. Most students change their major at least once. Thus, they’re going to be pleased that you’ve done an internship - which means you’ve gained some work experience and done something meaningful with your free time - and won’t care much at all that it’s not in the field you’ve expressed interest in studying.

I doubt I’ll ever see an internship that can actually hurt your chances of admission anywhere.

That said, it might not be as helpful as a medical-related internship when applying to a direct med, but it still won’t hurt.
