If i don't get into USC, should I go to Community College for 1 Semester and miss...?

the freshman experience?

I was thinking of going to community and trying to transfer in. It kind of seems like a dumb idea but then again i don’t know. I would only have to go for the SUMMER which i do anyways and then the FALL. and thats IT! but some people say i’d miss the freshman experience…altho at the time they didnt know that i would be transferring before 2 years. also if i didnt get in as a transfer, i would have other school that i had applied to…so it wouldn’t be the only school i was depending on.

otherwise i have other schools that i’ve gotten into (private) just not as prestigious or where i really had my heart set on.

If money is no object, you could attend one of the other universities to which you have been admitted to get the “freshman experience” that you want. Then apply to do a sophomore transfer to USC. If accepted, then you would decide if you love where you are and want to stay, or still want to transfer to USC.

If money is a consideration, then community college is an excellent option.

no money is not an issue. and if im gone for one semester, would i really miss out on anything? also, is it easier to get into USC as a transfer if rejected RD? I have a 4.12 weighted gpa 1850 sats. taken SEVERAL college classes while in high school so thats a plus. and im asian, first generation. that’s all.

I don’t know - I was responding to you wanting to both transfer to USC and have a “freshman experience” (however it is that you are defining that). Your first year of college you will be a freshman regardless of where you attend.

I do not think that having been rejected as a freshman would make it easier to get into USC. If you apply with fewer than 30 units, they will primarily consider you high school record and SATs. If you apply with more than 30 units, they will consider primarily your college record.

When he visited my school, My admissions director mentioned that some students start in the spring term, and get to experience the same things as the fall students. I don’t think that it’ll impact you too much if you transfer in one semester later.
