I’ve lived as an expat my entire life and don’t have a U.S. citizenship. I’m signed up for AP Euro next year, but should I take AP U.S. instead? Would college admission officers prefer that course?
Your question doesn’t make sense. So what if you are an expat. An expat of where? You are Internatonal and will be treated as such. Colleges want to see you taking rigorous courses. If your school offers ap courses that you want to take, take them. I get the impression you are trying to convince colleges that you desire to be American so you have taken APUSH to show your willingness to be American. They won’t care about that.

Take whichever you prefer, whichever has the better teacher etc. Taking APUSH won’t make you any more or less “American”
