I’m currently attending a community college and don’t qualify for financial aid with an EFC of about 7000. I don’t really mind since I can afford to pay for my classes it’s inexpensive. However I’m worried I won’t qualify for aid at a UC when I want to transfer. Does aid have to do with cost of attendance or just EFC?

If your EFC truly is about $7000, then you could qualify for good aid at a UC because of Cal Grants and UC grants.

Did you do the paperwork for Cal Grants?

No I didn’t for the 2013 2014 year. But I will for the 2014 2015 year which is when I plan on transfering. My EFC is currently 7000 but I’m scared it will go up next year since I got a new job

I used an efc estimate calculator with my estimated total income for 2013. With a result of an EFC 9200

I know it’s not accurate but it might jump to something around this next year.
