If I go to Stan for Undergrad, will my chances for Stan Grad be hurt?

I heard that if you go to a school (i.e. Stanford) for undergrad, the chances of you going to that same school for graduate school are low since the graduate school’s admission team wants their kids to not stay in the same place for another X number of years. Is this true?

I’m not sure, but I know my Dad’s friend went to Stan for his grad and undergrad, and now one of his kids goes there… Dunno if that helps at all

I’ve never heard of that at Stanford. I daresay Stanford likes its own undergrads (as is the case at Harvard).

I have heard of that at publics like Berkeley and UCLA, though…

if you stay at stanford for 5 years, you can get your masters as well as your bachelors

a lot of people (like my adviser) stay at stanford for their whole post-high school educational careers (he did bs, ms, and md here, for example)
i would think the bias (at least here, and at places like harvard, although i have heard of the phenomenon kyledavid80 mentioned occurring at cal and ucla, among others) would be to more readily accept from your own home turf, so to speak.
