If I got a 1930 on my first practice SAT, is it possible to get 2200-2300?

I’m a junior and am deciding whether or not to take SAT or ACT. I am horrible at the SAT-type confusing math, but I am even worse under a time constraint when doing problems. I also am not taking sciences, and reading comprehension is my strength so I like that it is a big component of SAT, the main issue is the math (and I probably should brush up on vocab and grammar since I haven’t done that in a long while). I just took a practice test on collegeboard and my score was 1930 which is less than what I was hoping for. I took it without any review or prior practice with the questions and it was more of a diagnostic before I begin self-studying for either SAT or ACT from a book as well as with a tutor. I scored:
660 reading, 650 writing, 620 math. I left about 10 questions blank and got 20 wrong in total. Not so great as I was aiming for 750-800 in the reading/writing sections to balance out my math score since I know I can easily bring those up. Anyways, my main question is with these starting stats if it is possible to score a 2200-2300 by the june or november test dates? Or should I consider the ACT since I hear you’re either talented at one or the other and I don’t want to begin studying for one and find out I could have done much better on the other!

Thanks!

I would say you definitely have a chance. On my first diagnostic test , which i took with no preparation, I got a 1950. Afterwards I self studied for the test and usually scored around 2200, however when I took the official SAT twice I received 2000 and 2020. I switched over to the ACT which I did considerably better in but decided to take the SAT (after 7 months of not preparing for it at all) one more time and scored a 2240, which was good enough for me since I knew I wasn’t a good test taker. So my advice would be just to take the SAT multiple times ^^ The Princeton review book was very helpful for me and for vocab i used Vocabulary Workshop by Sadlier Oxford. For writing I watched a video subscription at flex college prep. The lady’s name is Ms. Yoon and she is AMAZING. My writing score went from around 600 to 760.
Hope this helped! GOOD LUCK!

Baleiler you absolutely have a shot. Somehow Raichu123 and I’s stats are almost exactly the same. My first diagnostic test was a 1920. I studied for two and a half months about and first shot 2240. I was thrilled. If you put in the work there is no reason you can’t bring it up past a 2200. Good luck.
