If i got a 35on the ACT science should I take the biology subject test?

i want to major in bio

Well, doing good on the ACT isn’t really going to help you with bio except maybe you know how to interpret graphs. But obviously if you’re interested in bio, go for it. If you’ve already taken a bio course during hs, then go get a review book (I used Barron’s, it was okay) and study away.

I believe that taking a subject test in biology would be highly recommended if you hope to apply under that major. The subject test requires in depth knowledge of the curriculum and probably isn’t anything close to the ACT science analysis. The ACT even admits that you don’t have to have any prior knowledge of any scientific field to be successful. If you have taken or are taking AP biology you will most likely score well… also depending on whether you take E or M.

I’d take it, especially if you want to major in it, and that’s an excellent score! How did you get a 35? I got 30+ in everything except I got a 25 in science since I had a fifth of the test to go! Any tips on improving?!

ACT is interpreting graphs. Unless you’ve taken AP Bio I don’t suggest taking the Bio SATII

^ Not necessarily true. My friend took the test after freshman bio (regular, not honors or anything) and she got a 770. I, on the other hand, took it after AP Bio, walked in there with only leftover ap info (having not studied at all, bad idea), overanalyzed everything and umm didn’t get a 770. It really just depends on how well you know bio and how willing you are to actually study.

Some universities specifically request science subject tests for applicants who specify that they want to major in science.
