if I have 3 C's is it over?

My public school in CA is very competative, and because of this, i had some trouble in my math classes (alg2trig, precalc Honors, Calc AP). Assuming everything else is great (essays, recs, involvement with ECs, etc) will colleges understand that I am indeed a hardowrker if this is portrayed thru my recs and maybe be more sympathetic towards my grades? For privates, i applied to brown, penn, cornell, carnegie, northwestern, duke…my u/w gpa is 3.6 :[. should i address these unfortunate grades in the additional information or something?

Your grades won’t kick you out of the race, but they will cost you. If you have a good reason for your grades, let your guidance counselor address them in his or her letter of recommendation. Just keep working hard and move on. Do very well on SATs and other tests, especially math. Good luck!

thanks, i got 740 mathiic and 750 on SATI. When my guidance counselor asked me if i had any obstacles…i talked about math and how i spent so much energy in it yet the results i got werent what i hoped them to be…i also taled about how my parents pushed me to take geoetry as an 8th grader over summer so that i would be ahead…basically i just honestly said i felt maybe i wasnt intellectually develpoed in math yet. anyway yeah thanks for ur help
