If I retake a course, are they the same attempted units from the first time around?

<p>I am currently disqualified from receiving financial aid because of insufficient completed units out of attempted units. My GPA is fine.</p>

<p>My community college requires 67% completion of attempted units in order to meet the SAP. I currently have 18 out of 41, which puts me at about 44%. Last semester I withdrew from all of my classes (13 units), and I have two failing grades and another W from a previous semester, which contributes to not meeting the required 67%.</p>

<p>What I am wondering is if I retake those withdrawn/failed courses, will they count as attempted units from before or will they be new attempted units?</p>

<p>For example: This semester I am taking 4 classes (13 units - 3 of the classes I am retaking, and one I am taking for the first time). </p>

<p>If the classes I am retaking don’t add to the overall attempted units - and assuming I will pass all of my classes this semester - will I then have completed 31 out of 44 attempted units (70%) instead of 31 out of 54 (57%)?</p>

<p>Here’s a clearer example: I withdraw from English 100 - attempted 3 units, earning 0. If I retake English 100, will I have attempted 3 units and earned 3 units, or attempted 6 units and earned 3 units?</p>

<p>I will talk with my school tomorrow and clarify this issue, but I’m hoping some of you may already have the answers. This is my first time retaking courses, so to those who have already retaken courses, does it count as the same attempted units as before or completely new?</p>

<p>I believe for SAP purposes the retake is counted as additional attempted credits. So you would have attempted 6 and completed 3. Still improves your % completion though.</p>
