My parents are Pakistani and Indian and were poor but both went to college, earned master degrees, and came to the US with nothing. I was born in India and came to the US at a young age. Is this worth mentioning in my application?
Thanks!
no, because there are tens of thousands of students here in the US just like you. Are you now a US citizen?
You should know that if you DONT have your US citizenship by the time you apply to US college you will be at a huge disadvantage.
No advantage to being born outside the country.
Your fine if u have a green card.
It would be the opposite. Being an Indian probably makes it tougher to get in as Colleges probably wouldn’t admit it but they have quotas of how many members of a specific ethnicity (as well as gender) to let in. Citizenship doesn’t really matter but you NEED a green card or you will be dumped into the international student pool (in which you would be competing with the best from India)
