If I'm doing FOOT, what is the storage situation like?

Mmk, so here’s my situation. I will be driving to Yale with my parents and all my stuff (I’ve got a big box with all my sheets and everything and probably 1-2 suitcases)

I will also be participating in FOOT starting on August 24. Is there a place in or around Yale/New Haven that I could pay for to store my stuff while I’m out hiking? According to the email from FOOT you can only store one suitcase by default, and I will certainly have more than that.

where do you live? could your parents drive up with your stuff later and you take the train or bus up? that’s what a lot of people did.

Contact your masters office. There may be some leeway in your Res College for early incomers like FOOT. Once you get back to campus, you haul your stuff to your Old Campus room. Maybe some luck here?

OP: Can you ship your stuff via UPS? As long as your parents ship your stuff at the right time, you should be able to pick it up right after FOOT. You usually can pick up your boxes from a UPS truck parked next to the Old Campus.

If you can afford FOOT, I would guess you can afford the shipping fees :-)

see, we live in Washington State… so having them drive my stuff over after FOOT probably wouldn’t fly lol

I will check about storing stuff at the RC or sending via UPS (but my parents seem really intent on a cross-country road trip, so I dunno)… but if that doesn’t work would

[New Haven Self Storage](http://www.newhavenselfstorage.com/)

be a good idea?

JuanMarco, We also live in the Northwest. Are you on the west or east side of the state? A drive to New Haven seems incredible! Surely your parents are not going to just turn around and go back home. How many days do they plan to stay? Isn’t move-in on Friday? You should check with the hotel were your parents plan to stay and ask if they will keep a box for you to pick-up after Foot. Another option is to ship your box to the local UPS store on Dixwell Avenue and have them store it for a few days until you return. They have a service which allows box storage for a couple of days – if the box is shipped directly to the UPS store. You must call ahead and make the arrangements. I think the cost is $5/day/box.

We live in Western Washington. I too was surprised when they were so adamant about going on a huge road trip, but maybe they want a chance to “see their baby off,” haha

Thanks for all the advice everyone :D
