so say someones breaks in your house and tries to steal your things when you are home. since they are in your property, can you get a bat or a weapon and start attacking them since they trying to rob you?

Depends on what state and a whole lot of other variables. I’m pretty sure it is illegal to give legal advice without taking the bar.

Wait for them to assault you first, kick their face in, and plead self-defense. But if you do it and tell the court I told you to do it, I’ll call you a liar and deny it.

Oh yeah, it is illegal at all states for me to give legal advice without taking and PASSING the bar.

can someone explain what you guys mean by you can’t give legal advice without taking and passing the bar?

Yes, if you are in fear of immediate harm. (from someone who has passed the bar)

Unless you have taken and passed the bar exam (the test to become a lawyer), you cannot give out legal advice.

Well, you can, it just wouldn’t be legal. Furthermore, I’m not sure speech over the internet is viewed the same way. I am in Antartica right now, so I only their laws apply. And yeah, anyone can give legal advice.

You can kill them for trespassing in your house.

ORRRR If Fletcher from “Liar, Liar” is your lawyer, and you fall on a kitchen knife, you can sue the person whose house you broke into, and get a whole bunch of money.

i hate lawyers.

…and i’d go ape**** on a robber in my house.

too bad i live in a hippie state like california and i’d be the one that gets in trouble. whats the legal system come to

I don’t think you can. I remember a case a few years back where the robber sued the homeowner he was robbing because he (the robber) fell through the roof and injured his back. Slightly different, but equally stupid.

What about breaking your back when even looking for too long at a person can be qualified as a sexual harassment :)))

Who gives a flying crap about legally. If someone actually broke into my house I wouldn’t whip out my law book. Forget the reprecusions. Action before thought in that situation. Beat them with anything you can find(and kick, scratch, bite, pinch w/e floats your boat)

i agree with bobbinheadoll…attack at will, if someone broke into your house its called trespassing and u will feel threatened therefore take action!

if someone trespasses onto your property run into the kitchen and grab the biggest frying pan you can find. Then smash it on the guys head as hard as you can. But one hit is enough; you don’t want to kill the guy.

its called self defense, technically

technically, if they aren’t threatening you, I don’t think it is self-defense. It depends what you mean by someone robbing you. If they are trying to do it inconspicously, I do not think you have the legal right to use force on them.

where did this question come from?

florida + texas equals bye bye burglar
