If two (or more) colleges were to merge, which mergers would be the most likely?

Hey everyone :)

Previously I posted a thread about the possibility of the claremont colleges merging. I got many replies and therefore I decided to create a new one asking you guys which colleges would be most likely to merge. Please also justify your answer and mention possible problems :)

I’m going to begin…

Emory and Georgia Tech

Emory would gain a world-class engineering school and Georgia tech will gain a Law school, lots of humanity and health departments and a medical school. Also, together the schools will be able to improve each others sciences departments and the respective business schools.

Problems
Tuitions are very different, especially for instate applicants; The two schools are not adjecent; Emory acceptance rate is roughly half compared to Georgia Tech.

Now it’s your turn! :)

In this day and age, I really doubt any ‘brand name’ school would merge with another.

Lot’s of hoops to merge a private school with a public school.

Pomona and Cal Tech?

One for the liberal arts and one for the engineering.
