If you are curious about admission chances:READ HERE

I keep seeing posts on “what are my chances for admission.” Our high school keeps tabs on all kids that applied there, and elsewhere. Each school is graphed by SAT and GPA and notes, who got admitted, rejected and waitlisted.

Go to:https://tcci.naviance.com/fc/signin.php?hsid=wootton

On the right hand side you will see “enter as guest.” Then click on college look up on the left. Go to the state of Missouri in the state choices and click on Wash U. You will note that there is a lot of info on that site. You want to first click on the “graph” option, which is one of 4 options found in the middle of the page. This will give you some insight as to your chances.

I should note that the average kid that was admitted had a 4.4 GPA (weighted) and 1400+ on SATs. There are a few below that, but I think that they may have had something special going for them (minority, special sports etc.) Hope you find this site interesting.

taxguy,

Your school is incredible. It puts other schools to shame! I find it extremely prognostic based on our experiences.

If only my son knew it earlier…

This really only helps students from his high school. Colleges are familiar with individual high schools and adjust their decisions accordingly.

Also, the WUSTL data is completely useless-- no correlation. It sounds like his school uses a weighted GPA system that gets thrown out and recalculated.

WE do use a weighted GPA because many kids take honors and AP courses there. Also, their honors courses are MUCH harder than the regular courses and, in some cases, harder than college courses. I should note that average SATs from our high school are around 1210 with a lot of kids getting 1300++. We have two “magnet type” of programs located there.

Cajundad, Yes I agree. They do some fabulous stuff at this high school included this web site. Personally, I think that the mods should make this thread a stycky so that others can see what it takes to get into many schools.

The information was pretty impressive. Although I am an Ervin Scholar, and I know that there is a correlation within the scholarship program between the the Wash U. admissions board and minorities from Maryland High Schools (including but not limited to Silver Springs and Baltimore). Is there a correlation between the admissions office and all of Maryland Schools?

BlakcMajikc: I can’t answer your question without going to other Maryland high schools and check out whether they have a web site like that of Wootton’s. The few high schools that I have checked on need a passcode to access this type of information. Wootton is the only high school that I have seen that tries to make as much admission data available as possible to as many people as possible.

thanks taxguy
