If you could buy your dream house, would you?

I’m waiting for my kids to buy me my dream house. My husband like a vineyard with it, I like beach front property and some land.

We are happy with our current home and H would have to be bodily carried away for us to move elsewhere. Neither of us had a desire to live elsewhere, except as may be needed in some distant future to be near grandkids.

H and I bought a home we liked and could afford at the time. We still live there. We have added on and improved . But it is still not my dream home. But it is paid off and kids are grown.

So now, if I am going to move, it is to a very different dream place. I would never want the bigger place I dreamed of. I would now want a comfortable place to grow old in. Maybe that means a different location or a smaller house, one floor in a better climate. Would also consider buying vs renting.

H and I have not retired yet. But it is certainly in the next decade or sooner, at least for me. So requirements and priorities change.

I found my dream house when I was 9. It is very traditional…built in the late 20s.As a child I had no idea that is was a mansion. Yes, it is in our small town. But there is no way that we could afford it. Another home two doors down sold in the 16s…high sixteens. And the adult me knows that one would have to have a staff running it. I have, on occasion, driven by it. It is still there. And not for sale.

Oh, and this would not be a downsize.

My dream “house” would be any type of high-end condo with a balcony overlooking the city. As for buying, I can’t see myself buying any type of place since I prefer rent.

For a car that I’d buy if I could afford to: a 2016 Cadillac CTS-V Sedan.

I would do it.
My problem is I love my current location but the type of house and yard I love don’t work where I live now. Plus the drought pretty much rules out a yard filled with flowers.
Good luck to you.
