If you could rename EFC, what would you name it?

Just for kicks and giggles (and for serious reasons), if you could rename EFC what would you name it?

The words Expected Family Contribution have to be the most misleading words out there in the college app process. It wrongly suggests that that is all a family is expected to pay.

So, if you were a bigwig at the federal Dept of Education, what would you change the words to be?

(feel free to include realistic suggestions as well as the oh-so-deserving ridiculous ones.)

Minimum Family Contribution MFC

Excessive Family Contribution…?

All Disposable Income from Parents, Grandparents and Godparents and Then Some

If I recall correctly Curm has a great name for it – Every F-(Fill-in-the-Blank)-ing Cent

How about UPAY. Undergraduate Payment Amount Yearly.

minimum EFC

I think we should call it ERE – Early Retirement Eliminator.
Or FRS-- Forget Retirement, Sucker!
Or YIV – Your Italian Vacation (which is where I had planned to go on my 50th birthday, until I realized that with 2 kids in college, I’d be lucky to celebrate at the Olive Garden, much less travel to Italy!)

‘uscrewed’ .

YMC Your Minimum Contribution

ELD Every Last Dime

We Make The Rules
WMTR

FAEI: Federal Aid Eligibility Index.

BFAS- Blood From a Stone?

NWIH- No Way in Hell?

WDYEUTCUWD- Where Do You Expect Us to Come Up With That?

I like 'rentof2’s Federal Aid Eligibility Index because that is all it really is.

I predict those initials would quickly come to stand for something else :).

***UMBK…

***, U Must Be Kidding …

WDC,WDHT … “we don’t care, we don’t have to”

EFC … easier fed than clothed

EFC: curse of the middle class

FFQ: Financial Fantasy Quotient

Sticking with the EFC acronym:

Every Father Cries
Every Fund Counts
Extracurricular Funding Collapse
Expensive For College
Eradicate Family Capital

You’re all too funny. And I agree that it is just a fed index.
