if you dont file FASFA than does that mean NO merit aid???

???

We asked this question of various school. The general rule is that you should file the FASFA anyway. However, some schools, and I can’t remember if CMU was one of them, will give merit aid regardless of whether you file the FASFA. You just need to call up financial aid or admissions and ask them.

yep. Also, no filing of 1040 and submittal of 1040 (parents and yours,if there is income) to school, disqualifies you from merit aid.

Always fill out FAFSA.

well if i submit the fasfa late by 2-3 days is that okay?

Yep. Better late a few days than a few weeks. Put down best numbers and then later correct. Except for tax information, the numbers you put down should be the numbers on the date you sign the form. Use a little reasoning and common sense-if you have an interest bearing account and your statement is 25 days old, getting the accrued 25 days of interest is really not important. Of course, that means that you can update the form and still be valid.

You are really too stressed out. Relax. Don’t interpret too much into the questions. Just answer, as the questions ask.

Stay off the coke cola, mountain dew, red bull and the like.

Wow, don’t scare me like that.

I assume that means merit based aid will be awarded without submission of the form.

sunilonln:??
yur assummee is not logical to your quote.

Why?

I’m not applying for need-based aid, so I won’t submit the forms. Nowhere does it say that not submitting the forms will result in disqualification for merit-based aid.

Nope. CMU requires Fafsa for domestic. or equivalent if foreign student but FS’s are not eligible for merit aid. At least 2002. And if awarded merit aid, All must submit: complete 1040’s, annual aid form, and updated Fafsa. The merit aid can adjust annually.
