If you indicate an obscure intended major, how much of a boost is it?

<p>Im a prospective applicant for 2016. Im interested in majoring in french literature, which i think to be sort of an obscure major. Is this a “tip” to my app? Or does it have no boost at all?</p>

<p>It’s not a tip standing alone. If, however, you can list interesting awards or accomplishments in your area of interest, that could help your application.</p>
