If your significant other wanted to leave

My brother wanted me to post this…

How would you feel if you were in college and with your significant other for a couple of years now and they told you that they wanted to leave and go to college in another state?

How would you react? I’m sure a lot of people would be diplomatic and encourage it, but how would you really want to react? Would you want to keep them and somehow convince them to stay?

From my experience (I’m out of school), I can say that long distance doesn’t work out, even when it means staying constantly in touch thru phone, email etc. and meeting every time he/she is back. It just doesn’t work. Let em go. Yeah this response isn’t diplomatic! :p

as they said in “Road Trip” - Dude, once she is in different zip code, you are free to do (read: screw) anything you want.

personally, my gf is going back to her country in May and we have already decided that we will call it quits right there; and we have been together for over 15 months now. Its not that we will stop being friends. So to answer your question - no i would NOT want to keep them together and would not convince them to stay.

If it’s meant to be, then they’ll make it work. One of my best friends has been with her boyfriend for nearly 3 years, and they’ve only ever lived in the same city for 3 months of that (J1 in San Diego last summer).

Long distance relationships totally blow nard. Ever since my finacee has been put up in the nursing home two hours south of Cleveland when her MS got really bad it has drained me to the max.

joev whatever happened to KentState? the 0 post thing was so amusing…
