Testosterone and Estrogen (which cause the differences in mental (gender identity) traits) are socially constructed? I never knew that.

They call it “Rainbow” because it’s about LGBTs in Psychology. Really, I’m still citing a college website who are themselves citing other things. Pretty different from quoting from one of the largest right-wing Christian groups on the internet. But whatever, have it your way.

Here you go, from the APA themselves… you’re smart enough to know how to click the link that says PDF, right?

She means gender roles (boys do this, girls do this)… and you KNEW she meant it. Bakayaro…

Judging by his (obviously sub par) intelligence level, it’s quite possible that he didn’t know what she meant at all…. And your style of debate/argument is nothing short of beautiful, and for that, I commend you. If only you were female!

Thank you hehe, see that Mr. Debate style? We were complimented!

Seriously though, how infuriating is it that a bio/science (any science) student doesn’t know the social constructs of gender roles? That’s like… Psych 101, Anthro 101, Sociology 101… Anthropology is a class you would arguably probably have to take to be a Bio major. Hasn’t he taking Cultural Anthro? That’s First Midterm stuff.

APA is well known for being unscientific. You have to do better than that. I could easily come up with more evidence from a variety of sources, and I will if you want me to.

Judging by your (obviously sub par) ability to present any argument at all, it’s quite possible that you are wrong since you can’t even contribute a point of argument to this debate.

Hah, I’m but a high school student and I know that much, it’s common sense, and if one lacks that, then in this particular area, it’s not too difficult to make up for that by skimming a psychology textbook or even a few pages on Freudian psychology. But yes, I agree, his lack of knowledge in such area, especially considering his alleged credentials is quite pathetic.

@ Ignorant Bio Grad. Don’t you know imitation is the most sincere form of flattery…? Or do you lack that knowledge too? Don’t worry, I don’t expect you to know a thing at this point, you’ve already proven you’d be hard-pressed to meet expectations…

USCBioGrad, I really hope no trans person is ever forced to interact with you IRL.

I’m too damn lazy to look up sources right now. So here’s so anecdotal evidence.

I’ve suffered from depression from the time I was seven years old. Ten years of counseling, numerous anti-depressants, and female hormones failed to make me feel right. After years of fear and denial I finally accepted I was trans and sought out treatment.

Interestingly, the combination of therapy, anti-depressants, transitioning and male hormones makes me feel awesome. For the first time in 26 years I feel like me. I feel like a life put on hold has started again. I’m back in college, I’m making progress toward my degree, I have an S.O. who loves me and friends and a family who supports me.

None of the other things that were ‘supposed’ to work worked, but this did. I’m now a happy and productive MALE member of society.

Are you against that for some reason?

^I’m still waiting for you to contribute an argument if you are so intelligent :)

^ Educate your own damn self.

You… quoted Americans For Truth? REALLY?! Alright. You’re not even attempting to be scientific anymore. Let’s take a look at your “Criticism” of the APA:

Source 1 The Country Shrink - All the things he quoted as inaccurate are scientifically accurate. Even then, he’s 1 against millions and his work is not reputable. QED: Paid shill to lie for the right-wing INVALID.

Americans For Truth: Right-wing spin site/group, NOBODY takes them seriously. The right-wing barely takes these guys seriously. They’re as bad as Fred Phelps. This source is as bad as Free Republic. Not scientific, not accurate, not a legitimate source of criticism. INVALID.

American Psychology - This guy supports NARTH. NARTH is not a valid psychological organization (btw just fyi Rekers is the guy from the Rent Boy fiasco, and he was the former head of NARTH, that makes them hypocrites too). Supporting NARTH makes this source INVALID.

NYT - FINALLY a valid source for the material…that is 22 years old. Nobody ever said ALL the APA psychologists were good you know, there can be bad seeds and good ones, just like anything. So a few Psychologists were discredited in court. The overwhelming trend is positive. This source is HALF-VALID.

Conservative Colloquium is a right-wing shill site, although not as bad as AFT. Ryan Sorba however, is a hatemonger. That makes this source INVALID.

Final Score: .5/5 and I’m being nice.

http://images.cheezburger.com/completestore/2010/2/18/129109805288660745.jpg

@Ignorant Bio Grad. Aww, you need me to help teach you…? A college student should be capable of doing his own research, now stop begging me and go ahead, overcome your laziness and educate yourself. And don’t beg, it’s not attractive…

Did you by any chance eat paint chips as a child Itach?

NARTH is not a valid psychological organization

^It isn’t valid just because you say it isn’t?

@Eli What he NEEDS is a good kick to the head, he cited AFT as a source. AFT is one of the most unscientific things out there. The hardcore anti-gay hatemongers post from them. Their ONLY motivation is the Moral Majority ******** - I thought you were above that Mr. Bio major.

@SnacksonPaintChips - No, it’s invalid because nobody in the science community takes it seriously. Remember when I said NO legitimate Psych group takes reparative therapy seriously? They’re one of the illegitimate ones. They take Psychologists who were kicked out of the APA for being unscientific. They’re one of the groups who practice it. It’s not a valid form of therapy. Anybody who says otherwise is lying. Again:

YOUR ARGUMENT. IT’S INVALID.

Neil Patrick Harris is a god! I shall join anyone with accompanying feelings in worship of Neil Patrick Harris right now.

I think I find more open-minded people when I’m laddering on Warcraft.

That’s just all kinds of sad.

I GOT A ****ING TAG. FINALLY.

follows suit

Seriously though…Americans For Truth? NARTH? What are you gonna post next? Something from the American Family Association? Concerned Women For America? Westboro Baptist Church? National Organization For Marriage? You’re in college dude, at least TRY to use valid sources. Those aren’t even scientific, they’re Christian Conservative shills. Anybody who pays the slightest attention in politics knows that.
