If you're a swimmer...

1) How high of a level do you need to be? Nationals? National champion? International? International top three?

2) How high do your scores (GPA, SAT, SAT II) have to be for each?

I know of one individual in my area who attends Harvard primarily because of his swimming talents. He had a 2080 on the SAT, a 32 on the ACT, a 3.96 unweighted GPA, and earned numerous awards and state placings (including state champion in one event his senior year). He did not compete at the national level.

Thank you for that, it’s very helpful!

Was he in any other activities, clubs, etc.? And do you know when he contacted the coach first? I’m going to be a junior soon, so I don’t know when I should fill out the questionnaire…

You can compare your times with the H swimmers at the gocrimson website, look on the swim team roster, or at the meet results.

You can fill out the online questionnaire anytime, but the coaches may not contact you until the the NCAA dates allow (google those). You can make contact with the coaches anytime, the regulations just limit when coaches can call you. Good luck.

I apologize but I honestly don’t know.

We have a close friend with a good, but not fab academic record(92ish unweighted), top level courses at our public school in NY; SATs all over 700 was what it took to get the Harvard coach on the line. He competed at the state level top 5 in his event(s).
