If You're Suppose To Do One Or Two ECs You Like, Then Why Do...

People who get accepted into the Ivys and the top 20 have a laundry list of ECs? I was just looking at my yearbook and the senior class section, where all the seniors list their ECs. At my school, all the kids who get accepted into the best schools always have a laundry list of ECs, where it is so hard to define their interests. They also have great grades and good SATs/ACTs, which is awesome. But seriously. If you’re suppose to have only have a few ECs that you like, how come these kids and many others have tons of ECs, where it doesn’t define your interests?

They probably have multiple passions. A girl at my old school who got accepted to HYP was the chairperson of MUN, a member of the varsity tennis team, the editor-in-chief of the literary magazine, 1st chair viola in the school orchestra, and the president of Chinese Honor Society. I know for a fact that she truly enjoyed each of those EC’s, and pursued each of them in depth, even though they seemed like a “laundry list” at first. That might also be the case for those seniors whom you’re talking about.
