<p>Thought a lot about Donna over the weekend as it was Pride weekend in Toronto and we went to a lot of the festivities. I hope that the surgery went well yesterday and that her recovery is smooth and speedy.</p>
<p>Wow, thank you all. I figured that people would be supportive, but not <em>this</em> sweet and lovely. It means a lot to me. And also many thanks to the people who sent me pm’s.</p>
<p>I apologize for not checking in sooner. I’ve meant to ever since I got back to my bed from the recovery room about 24 hours ago, since I really didn’t want people to worry. But every time I’ve tried, I haven’t had the energy, or I’m in pain, or I’m sleepy from the dilaudid or demerol they give me.</p>
<p>The surgeon said the operation was a success, and everything went well, especially given the comparatively small amount of material he had to work with.</p>
<p>I’m happy, anyway. Sure, there’s pain and swelling, and sure there’s lots of residual bleeding and they have to change the dressings frequently. But I’m very relieved, and feeling very much at peace. </p>
<p>I’m already eating solid food, and I even took a walk around the floor tbis morning – very slowly, and hanging onto the IV pole for dear life.</p>
<p>The surgeon is a kind, reassuring man, and the nurses are all very nice to me, and everyone is conscious of the special care I need with medications, etc., because of the crohn’s disease and some other health issues. And even though some of the nurses don’t speak English too well, and I’ve forgotten most of my French, we manage to communicate somehow!</p>
<p>I think I’m going to try to rest for a while.</p>
