Hello, I will be joining the Illini family this fall. I am thinking to join the soccer club but I wanna now how the following two soccer club is. When I checked the Illinois Men’s Soccer Club it seems that they are competitive and you need to try out in order to join. Do I need to tryout for both and if so is it possible for an amatuer (3 month of training) like me can join?
Most club sports at D1 schools are extremely competitive and include players who have been playing the sport for a long time. They usually hold try-outs at the beginning of the school year and then those who make the team are required to pay a fee to cover uniforms, tournament fees, travel, etc. Often the teams in vCard luxe players who are good enough to play at a much higher level but have chosen not to because academics their priority. These teams are usually comprised of very good players who played club soccer for years before college. You would probably not be a good fit if you have only trained for 3 months. Definitely look at intramural teams at your school. These are more of a rec level team and include players of all abilities. The cost is low or nothing and they are purely for fun.
