So I got my letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship, along with the information that I’m not a NMS Semifinalist. I go to New Jersey, which has one of the highest necessary score indices of any of the 50 states. Should I let colleges know this information, and how should I put this in my application?
It’s a National Achievement so you can add that to your apps.
I personally know two people who are commended and not NMSF: one got in Yale the other Stanford. Just want to say it is an honor and you should be proud of your achievement.
Even if you didn’t get NMF, you still have a relatively high SAT score which will be helpful in getting into colleges.
The fact that we have a high NMF scores indicates that we have a good education system which is also a good thing.
My daughter included it as part of her achievements. We are also in a high score state. Not getting NMF motivated her to really study for SATs and resulted in a spectacular score…so there is that…
