I attended a university and did well. Then my final semester at the school, just short of graduation, I was dismissed. The reasons are complex. (The school was deemed to be in violation of civil rights regs with the dismissal.)
I was dismissed 1 week short of finals. I was told there would be Ws for the semester.
That semester doesn’t appear on my transcript. In fact, that entire year doesn’t show up on my transcript.
Because of the civil rights violations, the school now has everything go through their attorney to approve it and I’m supposed to send everything to the school’s attorney. I have asked why the year is missing and there has been no response for 2 years, no correction.
What do I do? It’s been many years and I’m finally trying to finish my education and attend a new university.
I have worked very hard to address the dismissal. But now they have a transcript that doesn’t even reflect that I attended that school at all that entire school year. There is also no notation about the dismissal, but I have been honest in my application about it.
The new school already has this transcript with the mistake. At first, I figured my letter explaining the dismissal might be enough? But the whole year is missing. If the school won’t change or explain the missing year, then I don’t know what else I can do but include in my statement to the school addressing the dismissal, that I’m not sure why the year I was dismissed doesn’t even show up on the transcript. Frankly, on paper, it makes the whole situation look a lot better, and in my favor, but I’m being honest that I did attend the school that year, I was dismissed, the school was in error, and getting records form that year sorted out is difficult.
My academics are stellar prior to this now missing year. For the missing year, I had all As the fall semester, and I was on track to get all As in the spring – but my GPA isn’t drastically worsened by this year missing off my transcript. The Ws would look bad, but I’ve already mentioned the dismissal, so the school knows.
What can I do?
