Hey All! I just wanted to do a quick update! 3 years ago I started out at the age of 16 with my foot in the door at an IVY LEAGUE! HELLO! I quickly u turned and and chose a smaller school with less of a name. GO HERD!!! I am now 19 and I graduated with a BA in Spanish and a BS in Geology May 10. The best decision I made was doing the u turn. I am now working on my MS with a concentration in Geology with a certification in GIS. I landed an internship with Marathon Oil and had options from Shell and Bp. Noooo this thread is not about TOOTING my horn. Its simply to let peolpe know that I ditched the Ivies and I am still blazing the trail. Opportunities knocked and I said “HELLO”.
I kept my ear to the ground stayed focused and landed in the right places at the right time. My Geology department ran out of money for Graduate assistants and literally moved someone to another department financially (Biology- they had free money) so that I would have no out of pocket expenses.
I have learned there is an exception to every rule but one must be willing to put in the time to find it. If you want “IT” bad enough you will move mountains. What one person won’t do for you another person will. All things are possible!
Good luck to the newbies coming through and I wish everyone SUCCESS!
