I'm bored so... Ask a UCF student

So I applied to UCF in the middle of December. I checked my application status today and I was sent an email saying that “I will be offered admission soon and I can choose to enroll into the summer program rather than the fall”. Now what really confuses me is that it said I can accept the summer program or deny it, but then I will be denied admissions to UCF. There were no details about the summer program or anything else. It didn’t even say I was deferred. It just said I have 30 days to decide. Please help I am really confused.

Basically you’ve been offered summer admission which means you go there during the summer and take one or two classes. If you decline this option you’ll be denied from UCF. I would accept it and then see if you can appeal and try to get into fall.

Ok thanks. But also, why would I be offered summer admission and not fall? It says I only have 30 days to reply and I havent heard from my other colleges yet or even considered how I would do this for the summer since I live in NJ. Do you know if there is any reason behind why I was offered summer when I applied for fall?

Well summer is usually for applicants with lower stats and you basically start like ten-fifteen days after graduation. Accept it because it’s non-binding

Okay I’ll do that, thanks for your help.

My son will be attending UCF in the fall. I have a question about the orientation sessions…Is it a huge advantage to attend a session in early June as opposed to late July? Or does it not make a difference? Is there still a good choice of classes/times available in late July to register for classes? Thanks so much!

they open up common freshman classes at the same time students get to register during each orientation so everyone will have some classes to sign up for… any non-gen-ed class will be more likely to be full though the later you wait

Is it reasonable to schedule all your classes on just a couple days a week, (for convenience of off-campus students)? I was able to do this easily at BCC (Brevard Community College).

Is anyone an off-campus freshman? How did you manage your days?
like 2 long days a week?

yeah i’m wondering too… how do off-campus ppl set up their schedule? do you spread out your classes, or do you have two or three long days? i’ll be an off-campus freshman this fall.

does anyone know?

depends how far off campus you are, if you’re commuting, i would try for two days but if you have anything with labs you’ll definitely be looking at 3 days.

I live one hour from main, 30mins from Rosen

How far of a walk is it generally for you to get to classes? Do you feel safe walking alone and all that? The campus itself, how big is it? Thank you for your answers! :)

What is the lowest GPA and SAT/ACT scores of someone you know that goes to UCF? I’m trying to get a little more hope in me.

how do students who don’t have a car get home? is there a greyhound bus service nearby, and a shuttle?

GMG Transport Bus Service . They pick and drop you off on campus. Very convenient and also always on time.

FLFriend: To walk from one side of campus to the other it doesn’t take longer than 15 or 20 minutes. The walk from class to class, shouldn’t take more than about 10 minutes due to the fact that all the buildings that house classes are in the same circle. It’s really nice that UCF was designed to be a large campus since, as it expands, it looks organized. Most people use skateboards or bicycles, which allow you to get to classes even quicker than when on foot. The campus is LARGE.
Being myself, I’m terrified of the dark, so i don’t feel very safe late at night, but it is a really safe campus. There are call boxes if you run into trouble that are positioned well and you can also ask those golf cart security people to drop you off at your car if you don’t feel safe at night. You can also make a strong looking man friend who will kindly walk you to places.

blue32: I know a girl who got in with roughly a 1000, i’m not sure if it was out of 1600 or a 2400. Hopefully that is consoling?

Recently I got accepted for the summer term for UCF. Will I get financial aid or do I have to pay out of pocket for the costs? I’ve heard that financial aid doesn’t cover the summer term.

Bright Futures does not cover any summer expenses. As for UCF scholarships and scholarships in general I am not so sure.
