I'm confused

I took 2 diagnostic tests so far: The one in the Barron’s SAT book and an online test from Prepskills - an SAT prep class that my parents signed me up for.

I’m not great at these types of tests, so go easy on me, but this is what happened:

Barrons test: 530 math(i basically skipped half the questions, ignore this), 690 writing, and 760 reading

Prepskills test: 670 math, 620 writing, and 590 reading…

i’m not sure why there’s such a huge drop. is it even possible for me to get a ~2250-2300 or am i beyond help? lol
(this is with pretty much no prior prep)

Anyone…?
I’m so discouraged right now…I feel like I should just settle for some local average university (i’m from canada btw)

Take an official test under timed conditions to get an accurate measure of where you are. If you search the forum, you will find the links.

Those scores aren’t bad. However, as you will quickly learn, official blue book practice tests are the best and most accurate. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/766525-official-sat-practice-booklets-past-current.html#post1063114942</a> That will get you some official tests for free. With different prep companies, it is really hard to get an accurate gauge.

And don’t fret; your reading and writing scores on the Barron’s were better than my diagnostic, and I ended up getting a 2360 after taking 20+ practice tests. But definitely go official.
