I'm confused

What’s more important to future success/happiness/wealth? Going to an ivy league college or having good social skills/work ethic/personality?

You need both to succeed, only One won’t make you succeed.

i think that good social skills/work ethic/personality are the most important. few people go to ivy league schools yet there are a lot of successful people in the United States.

also, i think that with ivy/liberal arts schools there is a tendency for people to study things that aren’t practical and that don’t really offer a lot of career opportunities. a friend of mine’s parents both majored in art history at ivy league schools and don’t really have a lot monetarily to show for those ivy league diplomas.

^Yes I agree with the poster above. Many people (note, though, not all) who go to Ivy League colleges tend to major in things that are not quite practical, like philosophy or art histroy (I’m not saying its bad to major in these- its just seems that it would be harder to find jobs with degrees like this).

So personally, I think that it is more important to have good social skills/work ethic/personality. Plenty of people who do not go to Ivy League schools are successful.

A better comparison would be to use a good/decent college instead of Ivy league college. There are plenty of good non-Ivy schools.

Personal happiness, regardless of everything else. If my greatest happiness is to be had as a homeless person, then I will be a homeless person.

I say this as a straight-A student at the most prestigious university in Canada.
