I'm deeply interested in economics, but how can I apply it in a quantitative and marketable way?

I would like to eventually get a masters degree in economics or a similar field. However, I fear that that may not be marketable enough in itself. I want to work for a research organization and I’m less averse to joining the ratrace.

Should I major in Applied Statistics, minor in Economics? Or is there a better idea?

What stage are you in right now? Are you in undergraduate?

Econ majors are in HUGE demand on wall street and in high tech. Quants make lots of cash. Not sure about a research organization. What type of work are looking to do?

I’m in undergrad.

I want to work in a thinktank, government agency or a company that makes innovative products.

How do I make an econ major viable in tech companies?
