I am so very happy for you!

Most excellent HGFM. I wish you the best. Just make sure you get that tire fixed before you drive out there.

I am so very happy for you too! Thank you for keeping us up to date. This is awesome. You’ll do well there, I am sure.

congrats! I worked at ISU in the early 70’s. The winter will be fine–just buy your clothes there and not on the West coast–very different. Also use antifreeze! if you take your car. When you need to get away a little take some nice drives through the country side…beautiful soybean and corn farms. It will be an interesting experience for you. And the people are very friendly.

Welcome to the midwest! People are friendly and helpful. You won’t have to worry about the cold for many months; July can be hot and muggy. Congratulations and am looking forward to hearing about your new adventure!

What a fantastic package! You should be thrilled!

This is an opportunity for an adventure! In 20ish years you can be here on CC as a parent and share the opportunity to explore a new part of the country in grad school!

Thank you all!

Oregon–that’s a very good point. I’ll wait to buy winter clothes until I get there (I doubt it’ll be much of a problem, since I start in July).

abasket–adventure indeed! I can’t wait to go somewhere completely new and just start over!

It has been a pleasure to watch your journey from afar. Best wishes for your continued success!

That is such great news! You made my day. I can’t wait to hear all about it.

Congratulations! So proud of you! Please keep us posted along the way. I know you’ll do great!

Awesome! Congratulations!

:)

Thanks all!
I feel like I get more excited by the day, especially since it’s now officially my last week of undergrad classes! Just this week and two days of finals next week until graduation!!! :)

AND I’ve already spoken with one of my future colleagues! The wonders of facebook…

Oh, my goodness…the good news just keeps coming!

So I went to pick up my cap and gown from the school bookstore today and found out that my department also chose me to graduate with Distinction!!!
I didn’t even know I was in the running (or however that works, as I know I’m not the only one)!

What a good week you’re having. Congrats and enjoy.

Good things happen to good people, and you’re living proof. Congratulations on everything!

BTW, my California kid is going to school in Indiana, and she likes it. She hasn’t found the weather difference to be a big deal; just make sure you have warm clothes, scarves, hats, and boots. The biggest difference she noticed was that the people are just really nice. Life moves at a slower pace than it does out here, and people take the time to be friendly.

Thank you LasMa! That’s good to hear :)

Congratulations, HGFM! It is apparent from your posts what a remarkable young woman you are. Indiana State is lucky to have you!

My DH is a Hoosier, and the only downside for us visiting from the West Coast in the summer has been trying to adjust to the heat/humidity.

It really helps if you’re a basketball fan!

Congrats HGFM!! It’s sounds as if you are having the best week ever. My how the time flies. It seems like yesterday that you were just starting college. Blessings to you as you start on your new journey.

Thank you both! I am awed by all the compliments/honors/blessings I have received lately.

jgotteach–I have a supervisor who got her Master’s from ISU (and even went to Sonoma for her undergrad; it seems I’m following in her footsteps!) and she also warned me about the humidity. Seems like I’ll have an interesting time starting there in late July!

Time does indeed fly; it doesn’t seem like I’ve been at Sonoma for four years.

HGFM, congratulations to you and good luck! Time does fly so quickly… I will be going to my D’s graduation in just three weeks, and yet it seems like I joined CC yesterday.
Please don’t forget us and post here in the Cafe once in a while!
