I posted this in the “Bragging Thread” a couple of days ago when I first found out, but I know some of you parents that have really supported me and helped me through this process don’t always check that thread and I wanted to share my joy with you!

I received an offer on Friday morning to attend Indiana State University this fall and pursue a Master’s Degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education. I also was offered an assistantship as an Assistant Hall Director, which means they’ll pay my tuition (I’ll have to pay fees, which usually amounts to about $1K per semester. My parents have graciously agreed to help me with the first semester’s fees.), I’ll have a fully-furnished apartment free of charge, about $650 per month in a stipend, AND a meal plan when school is in session! I’ll be starting July 27th.

I feel so incredibly blessed and I know I never would have had the confidence to apply without all the support and advice I’ve gotten here on CC. Thank you all for your continued support! I will of course keep you all posted throughout this journey.

Of course it’s starting to hit me now just how far away Indiana is, and how I won’t have my amazing support system there with me…the nice thing is my mom’s best friend, who is basically family, lives about an hour from ISU…so I won’t be completely alone. But I have a feeling I’ll be having quite a bit of culture shock moving from California to the Midwest. But I’m also VERY excited to see what this will bring, and I know getting my Master’s will open up quite a few opportunities for me. I can’t wait!

Congratulations!!! It has been wonderful following your very successful college journey. My guess is your masters program is going to be terrific. You will meet new people, and have new experiences. The midwest is a great place…and the cost of living there can be VERY modest compared to CA!

My guess is you are going to have a fabulous experience!!

HGFM-I haven’t always posted, but I have followed you from high school postings through college. Time does fly! What a wonderful opportunity and having your tuition taken care of! Outstanding! Even though you are moving from CA to the Midwest and think you’ll have less of a support system, remember that CC is just a “click” away. :)

Thank you all! Part of me still doesn’t believe it’s real yet…I can’t believe I’m this lucky! Especially because I didn’t feel like my interview for that particular assistantship went all that well…I guess it went better than I thought!

Wow! I remember when you were headed off to college!
You have always struck me as an exceptionally grounded and mature student. You will be a terrific hall director.
Thanks for the update…I hope you’ll post about graduate school, too.

Wonderful news! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. It will be a big change for you but “knowing” you from your posts, you’re going to handle it beautifully.

Wonderful news! You might not need the car there anyway. Winters in Indiana might be cold, but I think you will find people in the midwest to be quite warm.

bethievt-that was pretty much the experience I had when I went there to interview Everyone I met was so friendly! And I was told I would fit in quite well!
