I'm miserable at my school and would like to transfer.

I’m starting my search somewhat early as I know now it’s a bit too late to apply. I’m hoping to transfer spring 2012 or fall 2013.

Anyhow, as my title says, I’m miserable at my school. The only thing I really enjoy is the fact that classes are small, so it’s personal with learning and discussions.

However, I hate just about everything else. The student body is NOT diverse, and I’ve gotten several racist comments. Food is terrible and I’ve seen mice running around the dining area. There are mice in the dorms, even. Many people leave on the weekends to go home, making the weekends very lonely/boring. I’ve attended all on-campus events but they still make the campus boring. There’s more, but I’ll stop complaining.

So basically I want to transfer to something opposite of that. I know no school is perfect but this school makes me miserable. And the food has made my friends and I sick several times already.

So, to the technical info:
States: California, Oregon, Washington (Seattle preferably), Arizona, Texas – ALL OOS.
Good programs in the area of communications/media studies/(advertising?) and business/marketing – as currently I’m a communications major with a minor in marketing.
School size: doesn’t matter to me! Small class sizes are a plus but I enjoy meeting new people!

GPA: Currently 3.7, hoping to keep it 3.5 and up.

I’ve looked into USC (applied fall 2012) as I feel that school is perfect for me but I /know/ it’s a reach for my bad hs stats and the competitiveness is so high.

Thanks :)

Bump – I’m just looking for some potential colleges to look at that may be more fit for me

Where are you now, so people don’t try to send you down the same rat hole?

I’m at a small private university on the East that’s pretty unknown lol.

I think the University of Oregon is good in media/communication studies.

Ping me in a PM. Maybe I can help…

Have you looked into Chapman University in Orange, California? It has a top notch film/media school in the country and among the world. It’s a mid-size private school in an excellent location, very clean, nice surroundings, great dorms and great food. There are plenty of clubs and organizations to join plus sporting events to attend, shows, and so on. DS says it’s never boring. Hope this helps and good luck!
