I'm not ready.......Am i?!?!?

I a a junior and I never took the SAt’s.
I am not exactly sure when i want to take my SAt’s and i want some advice.

January 26, 2008
March 1, 2008
May 3, 2008
June 7, 2008

Are the last available test dates for this year. So far i have not studied ANYTHING AT ALL. I am aiming for around a 700 for each of the 3 sections.
I have a official Sat test prep book and a Princeton review test prep book,1,000 sat vocab word list by Sparknotes, and about 12 SAt practice tests unfortunately with answers to about 5.

Do you think that this is enough material, if i study hard, to get a good grade ? and also how long do you think i should give myself to study? before taking 2 of the above test dates? (I plan on taking two to hopefully score higher on the second)

I was thinking that i would study February-May and take my 1st test May 3rd.
Then My last test June 7th…
but then again Final exams will likely interfere with me studying for the June test date. And i want to put off the Sat until senior year.

it’s supposed to be an aptitude test, so don’t treat it like an ap exam. but yes, that should be enough material to prepare for it. as for the date, you’ll have to pay the late fee if you choose jan. 26, so i would suggest either march, may or june. if you have ap exams, take it in march, then take subject tests in june, but if you don’t have ap exams, then take it in may, and subjects in june. probably won’t make too much of a difference anyway.

COMPLETELY disagree. Aptitude is essentially your potential, which is NOT what the SAT tests. It’s not even an achievement test. It is a REASONING test. It tests your ability to use reasoning and logic in the disciplines of math, reading, and writing.

To OP:
I recommend Rocket Review in lieu of PR. I bought it due to the number of people on this forum who recommend it, and even just 10 pages into the math section, I can see the usefulness of it.

Also, make sure your practice tests are official. If you have the BB, then they all are. You score should not be a craps shoot. If you score a 1500 on your practice test the week before, don’t expect to get a 2200, or vise versa. The beauty of practice tests is that you can use them to both analyze your errors and track your progress. If you’re scoring 2100+ every time by March, then take it in March. You’re not going to get any smarter letting the information defer for 3 months–unless of course you want a better score, in which case, study until you start to see evidence of it. Remember, you can always take it again next Fall. Don’t fall victim to the myth that colleges will somehow nullify your score if you take the test more than once. On the Xiggy thread, he cites an example of a girl getting into Harvard, having scored a 1600(/1600) on her FIFTH attempt.
