I’ve nerdily been posting on this forum since I was a prospective student of UNC. Now, two years later (ahh!!) I’m off to China! I fly out tomorrow at 8:30 AM.

These days I post here basically to give a better picture of the Carolina experience. Though I was excited for college, I wasn’t what you’d call a tar heel “born and bred.” Now I am absolutely in love with my school and everything it has to offer.

So, I’d like to invite anyone who’s interested in what I’m up to in China to follow my blog:

Also, I’m always here to help. If you have any questions whatsoever about Carolina, please feel free to throw them my way. I was in your place and I know where you’re coming from. It’s a scary, uncertain time.

Good luck and have fun! Beijing is not for the weak-hearted traveler, but there’s definitely a lot to see. I recommend trying a real green tea popsicle and whatever you do, don’t let the ladies in the pearl market intimidate you Thanks for all the great advice!

Wow, cloying, this is so amazing. I’ve been accepted to UNC and have studied Mandarin for the last 4 years, so what you’re doing is basically my dream!! I got to visit Beijing for about 5 days with my class last year, and am completely jealous of all the bao zi you are going to be eating…

Anyway, I hope you have a great trip, it sounds like it will be amazing!!

I lived in China for two years. Blond-haired, blue-eyed, white American kid. What a trip! Not far from Tiananmen Square, there is a Dunkin’ Donuts that sells red bean filled donuts. Can you bring one back for me? Enjoy your time there…I sure did.

i’m sure you’ll have a fantastic time. good luck!

(by the way, if anyone has any questions about french courses, the french department, or french study abroad programs, feel free to ask me–i’m a journalism/french double major & i’ll be studying at the sorbonne in paris this summer!)

I hope you have a wonderful time. Don’t forget about all of us here though. :P

And I’m glad that you will still keep in touch with everyone on these boards. I think between you, eadad, heathergee, and leah, the UNC forum is in pretty good hands.
