I'm really unhappy about the school I'm attending?

I got into Poly Prep with a 4 yr scholarship, but now I’m reading some reviews about the school on the internet about how it’s fully of jocky, dopey nobrainer kids who are logo-conscious…does anyone have kids there? I’d like to hear your opinions please.

You must have shadowed/visited as part of the application process.
What did you think?

If you are reading one of those anonymous “rate my school” type websites, you will find that kind of review predominates the material they have. In reality, people who are really satisfied with a school generally don’t think, “geez I ought to go post on an anonymous website to pump up this place” while those who have issues (whether founded or not) often look for an avenue for revenge.

If you are still unsure about the school, arrange another visit while the school is in session. Sit in the cafeteria during lunch and observe the conversation. Sit in a few classes that you might take next year and see if the instruction is interesting and the students are engaged.

Poly prep does not have a very high reputation among NYC prep schools
it is thought of as a “brooklyn guido, italian, jock school” I do not know a lot about the schools inner workings, as im not a student but the school is in my schools sports league. If you are un-happy just go for a year and then transfer out to another school

What is the downfall of Poly then? Are its academics below par?

Didn’t you visit some classes? What did you experience?
Why are you worried about what other people think?
Reflect on your own observations of the school and students to make your decision.
