I'm sharing my 100-page guide to the Big List, created from all of your comments!

Just so you understand, ninnynoddle merely copied and pasted posts on this MT Forum that she decided were relevant to her college search. All the posts in Ninnynoddle’s document are right there on the MT Forum, as well as many other informative posts. Also, more up to date information has been posted on this forum since the time that ninnynoddle participated here. She has not posted on CC since last summer.

It can not be over emphasized: do your own research and due diligence. Read the sub-forums for schools that interest you, go to school websites and department web pages. Drill down on the multiple layers of information to be found there, from curriculum, course descriptions, faculty bios, shows staged in the past, the upcoming season, lists of recent alumni and what they are doing. Talk on this board to students and parents of students who attend your schools of interest. And visit the schools! If you are uncertain about what schools to look at, go to the thread titled “Big List” where you can find a pretty comprehensive list of audition non-audition, BFA and BA programs. Then filter the list based on some broad general criteria such as geographic region and location - which is one that I happen to think makes sense because when it comes to theatre and MT programs, you can find a load of great programs of all sorts of sizes and shapes in many parts of the country. So pick regions and areas where you could see yourself living for 4 years. That should enable you to come up with your own “big list” to start researching in more depth.

^^GREAT advice above for those new to the MT college search.
