Penn has 10,000 undergrads, so you cannot characterize the whole social scene in a few words. There are definitely students who party pretty intensely, but most people lead fairly average social lives in which they are very involved in academic and extracurricular pursuits but also make time to socialize with friends/go out. As far as drinking goes, binge drinking is an issue at pretty much every college campus, but there are definitely students at Penn who either choose not to drink or do so in moderation (probably most students fall under this category).

^ EXTREMELY disappointed. New Student Orientation (for incoming freshmen) and Spring Fling are really the only two weekends during which “partying” is as pervasive and crazy as it is in that video. And even during those two weekends, many students abstain from participating in much–if not most–of the partying.
