You never know with the Ivies, but I think you have great stats and a great chance at Emory/USC/Georgetown. The others I don’t know enough about to judge. Good luck!

You’re so screwed? Then where does that put the guy that flunked out of highschool and college? You have a solid chance of getting a good education and job. Feel a little genuine humility about it.

give us a single good reason why you are ‘screwed’.

well, I thought in order to get into good schools, u need to be 2nd or 3rd decile.

I thought you said you were probably going to end up in the 2nd or 3rd decile.

don’t u need to be at least 2nd decile?

depends on your school. If your school is ridiculously hard, then colleges take that into consideration. If you just haven’t been doing well in school, then colleges will take that into account as well. most schools try to be ‘holistic’ in their approach, so your GPA/rank probably is not an end-all. Just do well everywhere else. give them a reason to accept you, a reason to make them think, ‘that guy would fit in our school.’

your also from hawaii, which will definately work in your favor

If you are “so screwed” then just go to CC and transfer…not a big deal.

Isn’t it impossible to transfer from CC?

what? why would u think that?

you’re obviously completely screwed…
don’t even apply.

Yep, you should definitely just give up now, drop out of school, and work at McDonalds (actually, you’re probably not even qualified for that).

Seriously though… I’d say you have good chances of getting into a couple schools on your list. Just keep everything up and you should be fine.

i would say u have a good shot at Emory and USC. The rest are all iffy, but you will probably get into at least one fo the rest

But, is it necessary to be at least 2nd decile? My school is crazy, and everybody tries damn hard, so I’ll probably end up in 3rd decile… How much would that interfere with the decision making?

Class rank is considered differently by different schools but the strength of the school is always considered. Coming from a strong school is great and it puts class rank in perspective. Colleges understand. Can you talk to a guidance person at your school and see how acceptances have played out historically?

hmm… good idea. I shud do that this week

I know this is old - but you’re definitely in at Creighton.

Interesting fact, did you know that Creighton has the highest percentage of native Hawaiians than any other university in the country outside of Hawaii?
