This is interesting, as I went to Girls State back in 1975 BECAUSE I wanted to major in journalism (which I did). I’m not sure what aspect of the business you are interested in (I was in print), but you spend alot of time as a newbe covering city and county gov, then state gov. If you want a good summer “program” I suggest writing editorials to your local newspaper, or magazines you like, and try to get published (first read the editorials they publish to get an idea of what they are looking for). You’ll learn something, get lots of writing experience, and maybe even get published (which will look good on your resume). The best part is that is cost you nothing, and you can do it on your on time.
