We are looking at school options for our last kiddo. He is in 8th grade, loves sports… specifically baseball. He is also very academic so we are trying to find a good fit for high school. He did a camp at IMG this summer and really liked the program… and is considering school next fall. Does anyone have any insight or experience with their program? Academics?
We used to play them each yr (baseball). Their facilities are world class. Their purpose, as you might imagine, is to get your kid playing at a major college and / or get drafted. They’ve built a whole program around it. If you’re looking for strong academics, it’s not for you. They do have them and do the requirements to graduate FL HS but no one attends for that. However, if sports psychologists , nutritionists, personal trainers, individual position coaches, etc. are your thing, it’s pretty awesome. Just hope you make it to the big time
Have to admit it was fun beating them one yr (although they have several different levels of teams so we probably beat a bunch of 8th graders).
Isn’t it something like $75K a year?
it is plus most rent or buy a condo to live there on property.
A lot of professional athletes train there in off season (multiple sports). Baseball is huge there. Personally, based if a kid was academically inclined, I would not even consider it. Lots of great private schools around here with leading baseball programs that send tons of kids to D1 (SEC schools) . Kids get drafted all the time. But they can do that and still get a good education. Maybe play ball at UVA or UNC or Wake Forest, or FL or Duke or Vandy. DOn’t need IMG for that.
