Immediate Help Request from an Int'l!

Hey,
This is my first experience with CC. I mean, I followed some threads regularly, took advice from current students, peer applicants, and parents but I’ve never written to ask sth. personal. Now, I applied to U.S. colleges last year too, but with a perspective that can only be found in Charlie (of Roald Dahl) about the issue. To be more straightforward I exaggerated the “luck’s effect” and saw it as a lottery. But then the luck thing just worked out I got accepted to a state school with a community service award which was actually a partial tuition-remission. (In-state, out of state thing.). However, I couldn’t find the money to cover the remainder and, despite of my financial struggles, I decided to take a gap year and try again. I took my ACT on Oct. 25, and it was… meh… I’m not satisfied with it and also I already have some problems with my GPA,so there is no way that such score could help me. I’m stuck between two tough decisions.

  1. Find money from somewhere, take the ACT again.
  2. Three trials (two from last year and one from this year) prove that the ACT is not your thing. So, find money from somewhere and take SAT this time.
Which one do you suggest? I have no means of preparation for SAT but I spent a lot of time studying ACT. Bu after this last rial, I am convinced that there is no way I can handle the science. I have a serious visual disability, so I was worried that grid-ins could cause problem. But, apparently, on the ACT, science did what grid-ins could do so I have no worries about them. (What a relief!)
Well, I also would like to know if there is any drastic differences between ACT’s and SAT’s Math sections, and if SAT’s CR is all about academic vocabulary or there is a presumption like you have a moderate/well amount of literary skills?
Any input will be appreciated. (But please remember that I will have only a month or so to do additional preparation.)
    Thanks!

Hey man, I’m an intl and poor as well! I’ve only ever prepped for the SAT so I’m biased I think. Anyways, I recently took the SAT after a month and a half of studying. I think you definitely can do the SAT, even if you don’t “cram” (I definitely didn’t cram and I’m not a great student either).

Then again, that’s just me. If you feel you CAN do better on ACT then do that. If not, try SAT
