immigration now (including illegal) vs. immigration in late 1800 early 1900

what are some similarities and differences between tehh two?

Is this for a school essay?

I think so :)

I don’t think there are many differences other than the transportation they used. right?

The race of the people coming through. Instead of a Chinese/Irish immigrant problem, its now hispanic. Also this was at the boom of America’s industrial revolution…tons of *ty jobs were being handed out to these people, and they didnt care, they took it. Now you still have *ty jobs, not as bad as the inustrial revolution but you know what i mean, and immigrants dont always take them. Idk, thats all I can remember from APUSH, haha

There are still a lot of people coming over from Asia now, though.

Similarities: they’re basically all coming for the same reasons. To earn more money, get away from wars, live in a more accepting country (ha!), etc.

Differences: Race, method of transportation

that’s it…this is going to be a prety short school essay.

I think conservatives would say that the main difference is a lack of assimilation today, especially the deterioration of English as the national language. There may be a difference in how the immigrants were exploited as well.

Do you think they’re exploited more or less, now?

who? the imigrants?

No, the conservatives. Yes, the immigrants.

I think the method of exploitation is different. Today, it’s more under the table than it previously was before all the labor laws.

where is the OP?
