Immigration status/Applying to MIT

Hi, I have a simple and “straight-up” question: Does an undocumented student (let’s say he’s rich) have a chance of studying at MIT?

Well, it wouldn’t matter if he were rich or not, since MIT is need-blind.

I would imagine yes, but without US citizenship, he would be treated as an international student, where the competition is much stiffer than in the domestic pool.

The problem is undocumented students are not recommended to apply as international students as some say it gets them under the “spotlight” because, by federal law, universities are required to report to immigration any int’l students. Another issue is, woudn’t you need a special visa to apply as an international student?

About the need for “being rich” if you’re undocumented: it’s mainly true; in that status you have almost no worthy scholarships nor financial aid.
