Does it increase chances of admission, adding on to strong ECs and grades - or not make that much of a difference?

“Does it increase chances of admission, adding on to strong ECs and grades - or not make that much of a difference?”

It depends entirely on the quality of the Supplement. If your supplement does, in fact, reveal that you have “extraordinary talent in the fine or performing arts,” then that will likely increase your chances of admission. Only submit an Arts Supplement if you’re extraordinarily talented. It will be reviewed and rated by the Music or Theater Faculty, and the admission office will get the evaluation.

I did a live theater audition last year for REA, ended up getting deferred in Early and accepted Regular. According to my admissions officer, the theater department was really pushing for me, so apparently that was a big asset and if you can put together a quality package, I’d recommend it. Live auditioning was a great experience as well.

Do you have to major/indicate that you will major in that to submit a supplement?

^Absolutely not. For example, I know a successful applicant who submitted a music supplement but who wanted to study biology.
