During my freshmen year I attended one of the most prestegious high schools in the nation and recieved a 2.95 GPA UW and 3.15 W. I then transferred to my base high school. I am now entering into my sophomore year and my grade has increased to 3.475 W. Assuming that I get from a B —> A next year in my courses (inc. 4 APs), Assuming that my GPA W raises at least to a 3.75 the coming year, can I still get into a good university.
I mainly want to major in robotics engineering, and artificial intelligence. The main colleges I am looking at are CMU (reach), Georgia Tech, WPI, and UPenn.
Also, this is assuming that I get a 2300-2400 on SAT and a good score on related subject tests.
This would be in addition to forming a problem solving/critical thinking related competition in my school, am a part of the FIRST Robotics Team (qualified for worlds), on the school’s TSA team, and am involved in an internship with a startup company that is directly related to programming.
What are my chances of getting into one of those colleges and how much of an impact would my first year grades have on my acceptance? Furthermore, would the fact that I got accepted into the prestigious school offer any bonus to my application in terms of potential?
