<p>Some schools allow selective submission of test results and some require submission of all SAT, SAT II and ACT tests across all test dates. Assume that a student gets a 770 on the SAT reasoning math section and that is above a target school’s mid-fifty range, but gets a 560 on the reading section, which is below the target school’s mid-fifty range, then gets a 31 composite on the ACT, which is right in the center of the target school’s mid-fifty range. For schools that allow selective test score submission, is there any reason to submit the SAT scores in this instance? I would anticipate that if schools report only the highest test scores received from the accepted student (in their opinion) for purposes of showing the incoming class accepted student profile, that there would be minimal downside to reporting the SAT scores too (if they do not like the SAT reading score, they do not have to report it as an accepted student score, but if they like the ACT 31, or the Math 770, they could report it and use it to boost their competitiveness). So two questions: 1) if given a choice to selectively submit scores, would you submit the SAT or ACT scores or both under the above scenario and why, and 2) does anyone know the protocol used by schools to report accepted student test scores? <p>Schools would presumably (?) submit the scores used to evaluate students for admission. So what about schools that receive but don’t use SAT/ACT scores? Are they left blank on the form? ;)</p>

<p>Either of these scores would drastically limit a candidate’s chances at a highly selective school, but I would just submit the ACT.</p>
<p>I don’t think SAT or ACT makes much difference in your case, but I agree that selective is more appropriate as a match than highly selective.</p>
