Impacted Major

I want to apply to UCSD for Computer Science, but the major is heavily impacted. I believe they are ranked 16th in the nation for their graduate program, so I would assume such prestige would carry on to their undergraduate program as well. As a result, should I assume that the admissions selectivity for that school in my selected major would be similar to that of a school ranked 16th overall?

No, I don’t think that’s a very good assumption. First, the grad school ranking t doesn’t necessarily transfer to undergrad. Second, comparing an impacted department in one school to another school overall is pretty random.

Why don’t you call up the CS department and ask if you can get information on their freshman acceptance rate the past few years?
