importance of addressing the prompt

On an SAT practice essay, the prompt given was “Should heroes be defined as people who say what they think when we ourselves lack the courage to say it?” And I kind of blanked for a while. Then I just started writing about how people such as doctors, teachers, and policemen should be considered heroes. It was pretty well-written, but it didn’t exactly answer the question in the prompt. Would I get points taken off for this?

Yes, you need to answer the prompt. Unless you somehow described these heroes and people that say what they think then I doubt you will get a high score.

Although this is the SAT, we have a joke at our school that AP stands for “Address the prompt.”

You could always talk about Deepthroat, Nixon and Watergate, or something that relates better to make it easier.

i’m pretty sure AP stands for Asian Pride

^ boo not funny
